Planet X - Why is the sci.astro Crowd so Negative

Listening in on sci.astro on Planet X and other threads has shown me a group
of people including extreme nitpickers, people that seem to love the "art"
of argument (sort of like Monthy Pyton), people that like to call each other
names and what not. Nothing I would expect from a real scientific crowd.

What I would expect from such a crowd was the interest to explore our world
and the universe around us further, an open mind, an interest to bring the
sciences further. Instead, I find people defending the current myths like it
was their lives at stake.

Even in areas unrelated to Planet X as such, like the Tunguska Methane
vs. comet explosion, the same people that attack Nancy's postings on
Planet X attack anyone that stands up against the exploding comet theory.
Only a few people, obviously not "in" with the crowd, allows themselves to
take the Zeta input seriously.

True, in order to accept the Nancy and Zeta message, a number of premises
has to be accepted by the individual:

* We are not alone in the universe;
* Man is not the most advanced of species in the universe;
* Other species may elect to communicate in other and more subtle ways like
  telepathy;
* Such species may even want to communicate through people with less
  prejudices than the sci.astro crowd;
* Today's science is limited in scope and understanding to our own small
  playground only.

It seems most people here have the same difficulties accepting such premises
that our forefathers had accepting that planet Earth was not the center of
the universe.

Furthermore, in order to accept the warning given by the Zetas concerning
the upcoming Pole Shift, one must accept the premise that the poles in fact
do get displaced regularly. For some, this seems to be the hardest part,
while others rationalize it away as 1,000 - 2,000 years from now and
probably not a significant event anyhow.

The Snowball Earth theory with its "Frozen and Fried" scenarios seems like
another, unexceptionally dumb attempt (well, maybe not for the sci.astro
crowd) to explain the effects of the periodic pole shifts.

But would Planet X and a Pole Shift be such bad news? Well, that probably
depends on who you are and your priorities. I know some that will definitely
not welcome such an event:

* Corporate leaders who will no longer be able to rip off the populace with
  all the "must-have's" they can think off;
* Military leaders who will no longer be able to spend their not
  insignificant budgets "protecting us";
* Political leaders who will no longer be able to pretend they are our
  servants while spending our tax-money on all their "necessities";
* Medical leaders who will no longer be able to push all the artificial
  medical needs they can think of ("Hey, can't get it up - Buy Viagra")
  while they ignore the medical problems in the 3rd world;
* And a number of other categories making short-term profits while they are
  spilling toxic waste in our oceans, burning down the tropical forests etc.

However, for those rare few that may consider what the Earth will be like
when we go, a pole-shift may in fact solve a number of problems:

* Overpopulation will be solved, as most people probably will go during a
  pole-shift;
* No more pollution, as chemical industry (as well as all other industry)
  will come to an abrupt halt;
* No more drug trafficking, as all drug cartels as well as all
  transportation services will be terminated;
* No more slave trade with young girls to the brothels and young boys to the
  mines, as there will be no requests for their services.

So what's the fuzz? Afraid of some challenges ahead?
