Your questions answer themselves. If you know or suspect that there is
a pole shift coming, it is not really relevant if it is at 3:00 or 3:18,
or on Monday or Wednesday, or even in May or June. All you really need
to do is narrow it down to about a 3 month window.
Needless to say, in project development circles, this is what is known
as a "hard deadline" so any plans you will make will have to accommodate
the following facts:
1) The deadline, whenever it is exactly, is not going to move because
you are behind schedule. Planning on an early delivery of *whatever* is
a preferred solution, because stuff comes up.
2) The population at large is likely to suspect that Something Is Up
some time before the actual event. The reaction of billions of people
is not something ANYBODY can predict or control, so any plans need to be
early, not "on time". Trying to "escape" when there is general panic is
not a good choice.
3) If you have gone to the trouble of setting up a survival camp away
from the general populace, who you intend to abandon to their own
devices, your "escape" to this camp is not something you will want to
draw attention to. A more likely scenario is a slow slinking away,
which by the time the reason is figured out, its too late.
All of this points to the likeliness that the actual date is not
relevant to any plans on the part of the elite, only the general time
frame.

Again, the question answers itself. Prophets report on internal
knowledge, which is highly subject to inaccuracies and personal bias,
and to external information that they learn, also subject to a different
list of inaccuracies. What is most likely being reported is the
historical information that the earth stopped, and depending on where
you were at the time, it was either dark or light (an oversimplification
to be sure). Since they did not have commercial airline service, it
seemed that everywhere they went it was also dark/light, so a reasonable
assumption (at the time and setting) was that it was the "entire
earth". As any international traveler knows, it seems easier to "go
west" then east. An extended day seems more natural than an extended
night, with the attendant fear of the dark that is always with us to
varying degrees. (If you can't accept this that most of humanity is
still afraid of the dark, just consider almost any city, ablaze through
the night with light.) In other words, a long night would have made a
much greater impression on someone than a long day for just the same
reason that a flight from London to LA might seem easier than from LA to
London. The prophets are not accurately reporting what is GOING to
happen, they are reporting the echoes of the past.
