If each device needs a unique, real IP address... if NAT won't suffice... then the only option that I am aware of is a Cisco 827 or Cisco 1720-ADSL. The benefit of the Cisco 1720-ADSL is that it has the capability of adding a T-1 card to it later, so it could be used for your T-1 connection. The downside is that it is quite a bit more expensive than the Cisco 827. Either device will allow you to connect to our Internet service via PPP over Ethernet, and route a block of addresses to the inside Ethernet LAN of your network. Both devices have a built-in ADSL modem, so you will not need the Westell 516 modem. Since you have more than one device that needs a live IP address, you will need to get a .248 subnet routed to you. This will give you 6 usable IPs. One will go on the inside Ethernet port of the Cisco router, giving you 5 IPs for your devices.

The SmartNet contract gives you next business day replacement for 3 years, plus 3 years of toll-free support from cisco, and free software (IOS) updates. Works out to about $11 per month... pretty good deal and highly recommended. The above router would work for a T-1 connection later, but it would require a T-1 CSU/DSU card. That would be another $837.

Option two would be to get a Cisco 827 router. This router can't work for T-1 service, but would be cheaper.

We do not provide installation assistance for products not purchased from us, though. But we have no problem with it if you want to do it on your own.
